Team Profile, Monica (Nica) Kananga

Nica is the Owner and CEO at Laci Management.  She started this business because she saw a need in helping small businesses with management tasks they do not have the time, expertise, or passion to execute.

Always having a drive to be the best she can be, she debated between an acceptance into Cambridge University to study law, and a pre-medicine program with an aim to get into Oxford University to become a Doctor, before deciding on relocating to Canada to pursue a long dream to live in North America. It was in Canada that she decided to pursue a career in Business Leadership and Management and the launch of her business early this year truly marks the realization of a dream.

As a Virtual Assistant, Nica helps clients create and update their websites, blogs, and social media accounts, manage marketing campaigns, bookkeeping, handle customer service, and other business administration tasks.  She also consults, coaches, and trains leadership, management, and business development.

Nica is excellent in project planning and completing projects within established timelines, problem solving, balancing conflicting top priority demands, and working well under pressure. She is organised, detailed, and committed to delivering excellent service.

With 13 years of experience as an administrative professional, Nica has worked with companies such as Okanagan College, Suncor Oil Sands, Labatt breweries of Canada, and Nokia Siemens UK, and is highly skilled in various business functions including Operations, Marketing, Sales, Executive Support, and Projects Management.

Her accomplishments include supporting 5 executives, coordinating projects with teams of over 30 employees, engineers, and technicians, generating over $250K and saving $125K in revenue, and working with leaders and their teams in developing communication, collaboration and cooperative skills.

Nica carries an associate's degree in Business Administration (HR Management Speciality), the PID (Provincial Instructor Diploma), and various certifications in leadership and business development.

Nica is also the Founder and Executive Director of Laci Ministry, an organisation that teaches and supports people in managing the different areas of their lives including business, relationships, finances, and health.

In her spare time, she also enjoys being active in the community.  She launched Laci Foundation in 2016, a not for profit organisation whose goal is create and execute solutions to community issues. The organisation is excited to run its very first project in 2017.
